Max & Jay Weinberg And Slipknot's Jim Root

Slipknot’s Jay Weinberg Recreates Photos Of His Father Introducing Him To The Band

You may be aware that Slipknot‘s current drummer Jay Weinberg was originally introduced to Slipknot back in the early 2000s by his famous father, Max Weinberg. Max first learned of the the band when they performed on Conan O’Brien‘s late night talk show, of which Max was the bandleader at the time.

The elder Weinberg would later introduce the band’s music to Jay, which led to his lifelong fandom. The first meeting between the Weinbergs and Slipknot was also documented, finding a teenage Jay clad in one of Corey Taylor‘s past masks backstage with his father and Slipknot guitarist Jim Root

Fast forward to now and Weinberg‘s family took in Slipknot‘s show last night, August 30th, at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, presenting the opportunity to recreate the photos of what became a pivotal moment for Jay—apparently right down to the location in the venue. You can check out those shots in the below gallery shared by Jay himself.

If you want to delve further, you can watch him discuss his father’s role in him first discovering and meeting the band here.
