Former Weedeater drummer Michael “Keith” Kirkum, who played with the band from 1998-2015, was arrested recently after allegedly spiking his wife’s rum with methamphetamine. WECT News 6 report that 47-year-old Kirkum faces charges of secret assault, assault on a female, resisting arrest and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse. His bond was set at $100,000.

According to the police, Kirkum‘s wife had recently hired a lawyer and is seeking a divorce from him. She told police that she had a drink of rum with an odd bitter taste and became concerned after not sleeping for a day and a half. A subsequent trip to the hospital had her test positive for methamphetamine.

When deputies went to his North Carolina residence, Kirkum allegedly answered the door while armed with a gun and attempted to evade police on foot before being apprehended. The police have seized the rum in question and are testing it for drugs, with Kirkum potentially facing more charges if the results come back positive.
