Chimaira’s Mark Hunter Says His Cancer Surgery Was A Success

Earlier this month Chimaira frontman Mark Hunter went public with the unfortunate news that he had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Thankfully the form of cancer he was diagnosed with, Papillary thyroid cancer, has a high cure rate. Today, August 12th, saw Hunter have his thyroid removed with radioactive iodine treatment scheduled to follow.

Hunter himself briefly checked in post surgery with the below update revealing that the thyroidectomy was a success:

I wanted to say thank you for the thousands of messages I received wishing me well. I read them all. Keeping y’all informed was the catharsis I needed. I went from freaked out to back to myself almost immediately. So thank you again. 2nd surgery went well. I’m in minor pain but mostly I’m just starving. Like Chris Farley in the SNL “Lay off me I’m starving!!!” skit. Love y’all!
