A new wave of certifications from the RIAA have been announced for music consumption in the United States with a few hard rock friendly artists landing themselves new awards. First up is Godsmack‘s single “Bulletproof” from their latest album, “When Legends Rise“. That song was officially certified gold as of May 22nd, 2019.

In other news, DragonForce‘s ‘Guitar Hero‘ video game anthem “Through The Fire And Flames” continues to enjoy success long after everyone’s plastic instruments were tossed aside. The track, which this past March hit a milestone of 100 million views on its official music video, was certified platinum on May 23rd. It previously went gold in 2008.

Notching up another award is the pioneering rap/rock crossover, “Walk This Way“, which saw Run-D.M.C. and Aerosmith unite back in 1986, helping pave the way for a divisive genre to follow. That single was certified platinum on May 23rd, 2019, having previously went gold in 1993.

A platinum album in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit.
