Kirk Hammett Says He’s “Ready To Go Anytime” For New Metallica Record

Thanks to a lost iPhone containing hundreds of riff ideas, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett didn’t have much of a hand in the band’s latest release, 2016’s “Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. As he’s stated in the years since, that’s something he plans to rectify on the band’s next full-length album, which they tentatively will begin hammering out sometime after wrapping up their world tour in November of this year.

Speaking on his hopes to have a new album out in the not too distant future with Mixdown, Hammett recently said:

“When I was 13-14 years old, bands put out albums every year. Seriously, KISS put out an album every eight months. None of this eight years between albums.

None of us are very comfortable with the fact it’s been so long, because that is a long time. We’re hoping to avoid that this time around. We’re in our third year since ‘Hardwired‘. Maybe we can get a bit more focus and go into the studio a bit sooner. I have a ton of material. I’ve over-compensated, so I’m ready to go anytime.”
