After a series of onstage meltdowns and stints in rehab brought on by his alcohol abuse, Five Finger Death Punch frontman Ivan Moody‘s latest run at staying sober appears to be holding. Speaking with WEBN in the below interview, Moody reveals he is currently “seven months” sober, while stating of his past failed attempts: “…Recovery, you have to be committed; it’s an honest program, and I wasn’t being honest with myself at the time. I’m very, very proud of the progress I’ve made.” He further stated that members of Judas Priest, Korn and Hatebreed have helped keep him on the path.:
“Rob Halford [Judas Priest] is the person that I called a lot of the time when I was in recovery. I think he’s been sober now for going on 40 years — maybe, I think, a little longer than that; I could be wrong. But Jamey Jasta [Hatebreed] — another one. Jamey‘s been sober now for 18 years; Jonathan Davis [Korn]; so on and so forth. So these were all people that I looked to when I was struggling, and I was very, very lucky and blessed to have them on my team.”

Moody also has been speaking publicly about staying sober at the band’s live shows, as can be seen in the below fan-filmed footage shot during their recent show in Clarkston, MI this past Saturday, September 01st. Moody is not the only member of Five Finger Death Punch to pusure sobriety this year, as the band’s bassist Chris Kael has also decided to get clean, having faced his issues with cocaine addiction.
