The Ghost Inside drummer Andrew Tkaczyk continues to persevere in his journey to return to the stage with the band. Tkaczyk lost a portion of his right leg and was also left with numerous other injuries in the band’s fatal November 2015 bus crash. Despite the extreme setbacks, he has continued to make stellar progress with getting back to the level of drumming he once was capable of.
A big piece of this has been a device his father built which they call ‘The Hammer‘. Some other weapons have since been added to his arsenal, which he explains below alongside a new video showing off where he is now at with his playing.
“Today is honestly the first time since our accident almost 3 years ago that I feel close to the level I was playing at when I had two legs. No, it’ll never be 100% like that again but with the help of my Dad and some incredible people, I’ve gotten pretty damn close.
The @axispercussion long boards were the third and final piece of the puzzle to making playing drums feel natural again. 1st piece was The Hammer my Dad built. 2nd piece was my trigger setup, and now these pedals. Extremely thankful to Joe Hardy for hooking me up and helping me get back to it. Feeling great about this!”
Various members of The Ghost Inside suffered life-changing injuries in the aforementioned crash with the band pushing ahead with their dream to once again return to the stage. They had their first practice session together since that accident this past April.
