If you’ve already read this feature on the since destroyed Indigo Ranch recording studio that once existed outside of Malibu, CA, you can now dig in a little deeper. That studio essentially served as the home base to producer Ross Robinson, who is often credited as the godfather of nü metal.

Robinson produced numerous albums at that studio in the early days of the genre, including Korn‘s 2x multi-platinum self-titled debut & their 2x multi-platinum sophomore album “Life Is Peachy“, Slipknot‘s 2x multi-platinum self-titled album, Sepultura gold selling album “Roots” and Limp Bizkit‘s 2x multi-platinum album “Three Dollar Bill, Y’all$“, among numerous others.

He still possesses much of the gear he had during those days and continues to use it at his own home studio. In the below new mini-documentary on Robinson from EarthQuaker Devices released last week, he shows off his collection while also discussing his production process and outlook on recording, in addition to combing through some memorabilia from sessions with Slipknot, From First To Last and more.

Though known primarily for nü metal, Robinson hasn’t limited himself solely to the genre, having also produced albums from the likes of The Cure, Glassjaw, At The Drive-In, Suicide Silence and more over the years as well.
