The Clark County Coroner has ruled on the official cause of death for late HELLYEAH, Pantera, etc. drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott. Per TMZ, the coroner has determined that Paul died in his sleep as the result of dilated cardiomyopathy—essentially an enlarged heart—while severe coronary artery disease also played a part in his death as well.
Paul passed away on June 22nd, 2018 at the age of 54 in his Las Vegas home. He was buried alongside his brother, late Pantera/Damageplan guitar legend ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott and his mother Carolyn at the Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Texas. A representative of the family commented:
“Vincent Paul Abbott died from natural causes, specifically, dilated cardiomyopathy. Severe coronary artery disease was identified as a significant condition to the cause of death according to the official report submitted by the Clark County Coroner’s office. We ask that you please continue to respect the privacy of the family and friends of Vinnie Paul. No further statement will be issued.”
