The ‘Montebello Rockfest‘ has filed for bankruptcy protection, just days after wrapping its 2018 edition. The event has been held annually in Montebello, QC for over a decade now and was previously known as the ‘Amnesia Rockfest‘. The festival is currently over $5 million in debt and have declared the bankruptcy in a bid to focus on the festival’s continued future.
The festival’s spokesperson Gilles Corriveau commented on this past Thursday of the move “It’s a long-term decision, it’s not a short-term decision; they want to find a way to organize everything correctly so that in the years to come, there will be a … Rockfest.” He also went on to state that they plan to pay their debts, offering “The bankruptcy protection gives them the opportunity for a few months to think about something else than paying people. The intention is to pay everybody.”
