Billboard.com report that Disturbed‘s cover of Simon & Garfunkel‘s “The Sound Of Silence” saw a considerable spike in interest after being used in this figure skating routine by French figure skaters Vanessa James and Morgan Cipres at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
During the tracking period of February 09th-15th, the cover racked up 17,000 digital downloads—a 289% increase. The song also saw an 8% increase in streams as well (3.1 million overall) and was Shazamed 14,000 times on the day of the figure skating routine.
As it stands, the cover has become the band’s biggest track, having been certified 3x multi-platinum in November of 2017 and garnering over 198 million streams on Spotify alone.
