Six Linkin Park Albums Have Newly Gone Platinum/Multi-Platinum

Earlier this month numerous Linkin Park singles went multi-platinum following the sad death of the band’s frontman Chester Bennington, who took his own life on July 20th. Even more certifications have now been awarded to the band by the RIAA for the United States territory. While previous certifications focused on singles, the latest are centered on the band’s albums. Here’s the rundown:

  • Minutes To Midnight” has gone 4x multi-platinum. It was previously certified 2x multi-platinum on November 15th, 2007.
  • A Thousand Suns” has gone platinum, having previously gone gold on January 11th, 2011.
  • Hybrid Theory” has officially gone 11x platinum, having previously went diamond (10x platinum) on January 07th, 2005.
  • Living Things” has gone platinum, last having gone gold on April 03rd, 2013.
  • Meteora” jumped up to 7x platinum, last having been certified 4x platinum on February 26th, 2004.
  • The band’s “Collision Course” EP with Jay-Z also saw a boost, going 2x platinum, having last been certified platinum on July 19th, 2005.

All of the above certifications were awarded yesterday, August 15th, 2017. A platinum album in the United States represents 1,000,000 units while gold signifies 500,000 units. The sales certifications factor in digital streams into their awards with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from the album also counting as as a unit.
