Further details have emerged regarding Bennington‘s passing as Palos Verdes Estates, CA police Captain Mark Velez has spoken to the press (via The Daily Breeze.) According his statement, Bennington‘s body was said to be found by a housekeeper in his Palos Verdes Estates, CA residence shortly before 9:00am this morning.

They did not confirm whether or not his manner of death was hanging, as initial reports have stated. However the Associated Press have already published word from the Coroner’s spokesman that the death was being investigated as an apparent suicide. It was stated however that a suicide note was not found in the residence by responding officers. Bennington was alone at the time of his passing.

The Associated Press have received confirmation from the Los Angeles County’s coroner that Bennington has sadly indeed died. Coroner spokesman Brian Elias has stated that they are investigating Bennington‘s death as an apparent suicide. Bennington‘s death tragically falls on the same day as what would have been his friend Chris Cornell‘s 53rd birthday. Bennington himself performed at Cornell‘s memorial service this past May. Bennington leaves behind six children.
