Phil Anselmo spoke of a number of new projects he has in the works during a recent interview with Ghost Cult Mag. Among them are a new EP from Scour—his project with members of Cattle Decapitation, Pig Destroyer and more—a new Phil Anselmo And The Illegals album and some other projects too. Speaking of Scour he said: “We wrote a whole new EP, so we’re playing tonight. All new stuff.”

He continued:

“I’m sitting on top of so much music right now… But yes, I’m sitting on many records of many different styles. And Scour is… It’s great that it’s happening actually as… gigs and now with the new EP we can actually do this thing called a full set.”

As for the other new material he has up his sleeve, he offered:

“I’ve got a new Illegals coming out and it is way different than the first, that’s all I’ll say. I’ve got this other project, I don’t want to name it yet. It’s kind of clandestine, but it’s an expression. And then I’m sitting on the new Scour and I’m sitting on another project that is absolutely extreme, but in way, way different direction.

And it’s actually, a lot of the music I would say… A great percentage of the music is stuff that I originally started writing to begin with. So it’s like the longest music that has grown up with me and finally over the last, past year and a half or something like that, we just sat down, we got the right players and everybody contributed and next thing you know it was just… [a] a two week long jam session and I think we came out of it with three albums.”

The interview was conducted prior to the band’s set at the Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn, NY this past Wednesday, June 14th. During that set the band performed covers of Bathory‘s “Massacre” and Pantera‘s “Strength Beyond Strength“. You can watch footage of that below:
