Metallica may finally be getting ahead with their long-awaited new album. The band shared the following image earlier today, February 25th, suggesting that they may actually have moved onto the recording stage. Of course it’s entirely possible they are just writing and demoing material as well, as they didn’t exactly provide much context on the matter. Earlier in the month vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield did say onstage:
“We’re working on a new record… for the last twenty years or so [laughs]. We’re gettin’ near the end. I don’t wanna get anyone’s hopes up too high, but… we’re coming to the end!”
Before that album arrives, Metallica will be putting out three releases on ‘Record Store Day‘ this year, which they will also serve as the ambassadors for. That event will take place April 16th and feature extensive deluxe reissues of “Kill ‘Em All” and “Ride The Lightning“, plus a live album titled “Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité, Metallica! – Live at Le Bataclan. Paris, France – June 11th, 2003” that will benefit survivors of the November 2015 terrorist attacks at the Le Bataclan in Paris, France.
