Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst plans to temporarily move to Crimea, the Ukraine region annexed by Russia in 2014 with intentions to produce film and TV content. The move is encouraged by Crimean Prime Minister Sergey Aksyonov, who is providing various incentives to Western celebrities in a bid to make the republic a cultural hotbed. Speaking with Izvestia, Durst expressed his interest in spending half of a year in Crimea working on film & TV projects, striving for the “great future of Crimea and Russia.”
Billboard.com point out that Durst‘s wife Kseniya Beryazina is a native of Crimea as well. The Crimean Peninsula is often seen as a point of contention in the Western world, having been annexed by Russia from the Ukraine in early 2014. Durst himself also commented to Billboard of the story:
@billboard there are great people everywhere. I have met many Russians, in Russia, that are excited to learn more about America.
