Zao have released their first new song since 2009. Below you can hear “Xenophobe” from the outfit, which will be released as a 7″/digital single next week on July 10th. The song “Fear Itself” appears on the b-side for the outing, which you can pre-order here. 600 copies of the single will be made available on a limited edition clear vinyl pressing that will be hand-assembled and numbered. The song is streaming over at Decibel and frontman Dan Weyandt said of it:
“Lyrically, ‘Xenophobe‘ is about specific outlets of mass media using tried and true propaganda techniques to create division, radicalism and fear in the average American citizen’s mind. Appealing at first to a viewer’s prejudice and worries, it then reshapes the way one thinks and perceives. It’s the great divider in the digital age and the corruptor of rational thoughts. It is loyal to no side and both at once.”
In other news, the band have 13 songs in the works for their new album, which they hope to have in stores this fall.
