Unearth have a tentative October 28th release date planned through eOne Music for their new album. Band vocalist Trevor Phipps told Capital Chaos last month that the Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, DevilDriver) produced effort did not yet have a title at the time, though they expected to have those details finalized by now.
During the chat Phipps expressed his thoughts that album sales no longer reflect a bands relevance. Of that topic, he offered:
“I think what matters is what you draw. I think even album sales are a joke at this point. I think right now is what your ticket count’s are, that shows you who really cares about the band. If people come to see you… then people care about you. If they don’t show up, then you’re at a down moment.”
He continued:
“I think you should definitely put out records. My point about the album sales; I don’t think that should be the bar that you set. I think it is less and less now about the album sales, I think it really is about what you can draw—how many tickets you sell. That’s how bands make their money right now anyway. Bands aren’t going to make money from selling CD’s, cause everyone’s taking it or they’re streaming it. It’s more about the live show, so if a fan wants to support the band they like, it’s always better to buy the ticket and a t-shirt. That’s how bands especially in this genre of music make their living.”
