Boston hardcore band Haywire ran into a snag with their plans to play the Corazon Del Barrio in San Diego, CA this past Friday, August 21st. In light of the situation, the group staged a guerilla show near a freeway in the city, which was attended by both fans, as well as the local authorities, who didn’t seem pleased at what they saw.
Ironically, Haywire vocalist Austin Sparkman offered up an explanation for the unconventional live setting, placing the blame on the police for the show not being held in the above-mentioned venue it was originally booked at.
He told the audience at the impromptu outdoor show of that [transcribed by theprp.com]:
“I wanna make something clear, to my knowledge It was not the venue that fucked us — it was the police department of San Diego. They sent a gang task force to close up Del Barrio today, and they cited the place, they condemned it. So now they have to get inspections by the the fucking fire marshal. Because they see what happens when Dead City plays. But what a bunch of fucking idiots, cause look at what we did. They just made us do what were gonna do anyway.”
Haywire recently announced their signing with Roadrunner Records and will be issuing their new studio album “I Don’t Wanna Say Goodbye” on October 02nd.
