YouTube's Upcoming Paid Music Subscription Service Leads To Royalty Disputes And Pulled Content

There’s likely to be a lot less music on YouTube in the months to come as the service squabbles with labels over fair royalty rates. The issue stems from the online streaming video giant’s plans to launch a paid music subscription service. In particular, their inability to reach an agreement for the royalty terms between the subscription service and existing free service.

YouTube apparently doesn’t want to offer music for free without it also being available on their paid service. The unfortunate immediate remedy has seen some independent labels remove their content from the service. For more on that, head over to Billboard.com.
