Former Lostprophets frontman/convicted pedophile Ian Watkins has been transferred from the ‘Monster Mansion‘—AKA HM Prison Parc in Bridgend, UK, a facility that got its name due to the large number of sex offenders housed there.
Walesonline.co.uk reports that Watkins has been moved to HM Prison Long Lartin in Worcestershire, England. The move was made so Watkins could be closer to his mother Elaine, who has taken ill after a kidney transplant. As the aforementioned site reports:
“The prison is around 90 minutes from Pontypridd, where Watkins‘ mother lives in the house he shared with her before he was taken into custody when a vast amount of images of child sex abuse was found on his computer.”
His new home is once again a maximum security prison and has served host to various serial killers, war criminals and more in the past and present.
Earlier this week Watkins—who faces 29 years with six years on license in prison—filed an application with the Court of Appeal in a bid to seek leave to appeal the length of his prison sentence.
Watkins pled guilty to numerous child sex related crimes last month and along with the two women involved in his case, was sentenced to lengthy prison terms.
