Flat as a tack.
NIN’s (Trent’s) songwriting is becoming more and more expected. He’s been using the same formula now since Ghosts it seems. A bit too predictable. Sounds like him and his wife’s side project and not an NIN track.
That’s interesting that you would use that criticism, because this song is a cover.
I was thinking the same thing, Hidden. However, maybe Livedefflo is inferring that Trent hasn’t been doing anything particularly inspiring with original NIN work and this lack of innovation/creativity hasn’t been instilled in this cover song either?
Wouldn’t that actually mean that TECHNICALLY it can’t?
Fuck U2.
Yeah, and U 2.
The new Skinny Puppy “hanDover” destroys this NIN track.
your faulting someone’s sound on a cover song? there’s only so much room to work within there
I’m not a big U2 fan…aside from a few tracks off of “Joshua Tree”, but I still think Trent’s voice sounds infinitely better than Boner’s.
And…yes…the new Skinny Puppy destroys this.
NIN covering U2 is not something I ever thought I would hear…ever. It’s a good cover though, but Trent Reznor doesn’t do anything half-assed. Here’s the real question though: Is this a NEW NIN track or is this something that’s been laying around the cutting room floor for a few years and has just finally surfaced?

The Jimi Hendrix version of Bob Dylans “All Along The Watchtower” worked because he took a good song and made it better. I thought the idea is to take something used and make it sound original. It seems most cover concepts are the musical versions of reality tv where you already know how it is going to turn out.
