Tool continue to chip away at their next album. Shared via the groups Facebook yesterday was the following info:
“Starting the New Year off on a positive note, ADAM arrives at the LOFT with an ending for a new TOOL arrangement and gets the nod of approval by the others. As long as they don’t start with the ending, that’s good news!”
A similar update over at the bands official website Toolband.com shed a bit more light:
“…At the Lakers game last night, when I asked him [Danny Carey] about how things were going with the band, he told me that a couple of days ago ADAM had come into the loft with an ending for a particular song that everyone really liked. So, perhaps the musical arrangement for another TOOL song is finished… unless they sometimes write the end of the song first?”
An update made earlier this month via the same site confirmed that writing is still underway, offering:
“Having just returned from their individual holiday obligations, the band members will soon be entrenched at the Loft, diligently (as opposed to shoddily) writing and arranging new music for a much anticipated forthcoming recording.”
Regardless of the progress, it would appear the fate of the long-awaited album is still tied up by a pending trial set for early this year that will resolve a legal dispute involving a former designer/friend of the band.
