Machine Head vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn hosted a benefit concert at the Oakland Metro Operahouse in Oakland, CA this past Friday, January 17th. Dubbed ‘Robb Flynn & Friends‘, the event saw Flynn and various musicians run through a pile of Black Sabbath tracks.
Among the various musicians involved were Forbidden guitarist Craig Locicero; Exodus drummer Tom Hunting; Metallica bassist Rob Trujillo; Suicide Silence vocalist Eddie Hermida; Testament singer Chuck Billy; High On Fire vocalist/guitarist Matt Pike and bassist Jeff Matz; Exodus‘ Gary Holt; ex-Faith No More guitarist Jim Martin, Slayer drummer Paul Bostaphmembers of Spiralarms and more.
According to those in attendance, Chuck Billy appeared for “Iron Man“; “War Pigs” (with Robert Trujillo, Jim Martin and Paul Bostaph) and “Hole In The Sky” (with Robert Trujillo); Eddie Hermida guested on “Symptom Of The Universe” and “Sweet Leaf“—the latter of which also featured Robert Trujillo. While Matt Pike and Jeff Matz reportedly appeared on “Into The Void” and Gary Holt guested on “Paranoid“.
The event was heled to benefit a friend of Flynn‘s, Nikki Davis, whose husband passed as a result of a motorcycle accident both she and him were involved in.
