Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch recently took to his Twitter to assure fans that the groups coming new album “The Paradigm Shift” (out October 08th) will feature plenty of guitars and groove. The band have faced a considerable amount of backlash since premiering the albums first single “Never Never“.
Speaking earlier today (August 13th) Welch stated:
“KoRn fans are going to be SO HAPPY when they hear our new album! The guitars are so thick and juicy! Grooves are bangin!!!”
His statements are likely in part an indirect reply to comments recently made by the bands former drummer David Silveria. Speaking through his own Facebook, Silveria replied to a fan last week with the following in regards to his ‘thoughts’ on “Never Never“:
“For all the fans asking the answer is no I have not heard a new Korn song. All I can say is I’m sure it’s not funky and groovy like the original Korn. I don’t even need to hear it to know that.”
He later added in the comments:
“I’m not talking crap on Korn. I’m just saying until the real “funky drummer” is back its just not gonna have the groove that the fans love.”
He also went on to cast some dirt on his final album with the band, 2005’s “See You On The Other Side” as well. Once again speaking through the comments of the above-mentioned post, he offered:
“Btw I think SYOTOS was by far my least favorite Korn cd. The production team “the matrix” basically wrote the whole record. Vocals and lyrics included. I didn’t want to work with them… Jon wanted to work with “the matrix” because they had made a bunch of successful Pop records. I never wanted to work with them.
They were basically given full control to do whatever they wanted on the record. I told the guys the direction of the record sucked but Jon wanted them to do everything so there you have it. It didn’t even feel like a Korn record to me.”
