Emmure frontman Frankie Palmeri stepped into the proverbial lions den for an interview with one of their most vocal critics, Metal Injection. When asked why he thinks that Emmure often get compared to Limp Bizkit, Palmeri replied:
“I think just because that we’re a band that has come up and is doing something that a lot of people were afraid to do—which is be a tenacious, raw band that makes music that no one else is making.
I don’t think anyone sounds like us. I don’t think anyone sounds like Limp Bizkit. And the fact that we’re two bands that really stand alone like that is what makes the comparison happen.
And the fact that our live show too just has that much energy and has that kind of like in-your-face, ‘give a fuck what you think about us’ attitude, not a lot of bands have done that.
Definitely me and the band have been inspired by bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn, and even other bands that I can name off that I think have done that.
That have just been like so kind of off-kilter and like a little bit on the rough as far as being a metal band, but not metal. You know what I mean, but not really a metal band? You know just not really a hard rock band… And we’re able to create that polarity.”
