Serj Tankian took part in an AMA on Reddit earlier today (July 31st) and amongst his various replies were numerous responses regarding a new album from System Of A Down. Some excerpts from the Q&A session can be found below:
On whether or not System Of A Down are working on a new album:
“No, that is not true. A quick scan of press online will show that we have not yet agreed on a timetable for another record due to its time commitments. “
In response to a fan who said that it has been too long since System Of A Down released an album:
“We really appreciate that, but we have to make a record when we think it’s time, not anyone else.”
On if he has a desire to make another System Of A Down album:
“Yes of course, otherwise I wouldn’t be discussing it at all.”
“I am not opposed to making a System record at all. It just has to be the right time for us all in the band.”
On why they rarely play material from “Steal This Album“:
“Good Question: One I always ask the other guys. That is why we rehearsed and played A.D.D. and rehearsed a few others from Steal. i would one day like to do a full Steal this Album live show or tour. “
Rumors of a new System Of A Down album once again flared up recently as a result of comments made by the bands drummer John Dolmayan during the groups recent Los Angeles, CA show.
