Gwar look to be in the midst of locking down a replacement for late guitarist Cory Smoot. According to a newly-issued press release:
“GWAR has activated certain contingency plans, and the process that will hopefully lead to a new and hellish alignment with some kind of hideous creature, one capable of slaying thousands with JUST ONE NOTE. Needless to say, auditions are not “open”. GWAR is also writing material for their new album, which could be out as early as several thousand years from now.”
While primarily focused on the studio, the band will also be playing a number of select shows this summer. Those dates include:
06/09 New York, NY – Irving Plaza (“Zombie Prom“)
06/15 Providence, RI – Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel
06/16 Montebello, QC – Montebello Marina (“D-TOX Rockfest“)
06/17 London, ON – London Concert Theater
The band will also be hosting their third annual “Gwar-B-Q” event in Richmond, VA on August 18th with more details pending.
