With rumors flying about a potential replacement for Howard Jones‘s recently-vacated slot in Killswitch Engage, Tommy Vext‘s (Vext, ex-Divine Heresy) name has come up more than once.

TheBlacktooth.com put the question to Vext himself via the following exchange:

The Blacktooth: If the opportunity was given for you to join Killswitch Engage, would you take it? Why or why not?

Tommy: Well this is a very tough question to answer. Over the past 5 months I’ve been writing and recording a new “VEXT” album with Andrew Jacobs & Bill Fore from Mutiny Within As well as Guitar virtuoso Angel Vivaldi.

We have some label interest already and haven’t even begun to shop the material.

On the other hand as a fan & former tour mate of Killswitch I would be lying if I said I wouldn’t be honored to be a part of anything with ANY of those guys musically.

VEXT was actually looking to hire Adam D. to mix 5 songs for us and Wednesday morning he unfortunately was “forced to decline”. Then we all read the news of Howard‘s departure.

The Blacktooth: Are you working on any current projects that would keep you from being able to commit to a new opportunity like this and if so, would you be willing to change your immediate plans?

Tommy: My decision to sing for KSE would be incumbent upon a unanimous band decision from not only my own band members but obviously the KSE guys.

I’ve spoke with Vaughn Lewis at Strong Management (KSE’s manager) today concerning auditions but that is all I can say for now.

Andrew, Bill, Angel & I have all discussed these matters and In the meantime We are continuing to record & rehearse as planned. If the opportunity presents itself We will have to face that when it happens.”
