Yesterday, October 27th, saw masked Portuguese post-black metal band Gaerea deliver one of four versions of their new standalone track “Shallow“. While that debut found them pairing up with psy-trance outfit Paranormal Attack, today finds the complete collection making it out. In addition to the standard studio version of the song, the group also recruited cellist Jo Quail and pianist Juan L. Otaiza for separate takes on that track.

Gaerea commented:

“‘Shallow‘ was written on the edge where depression and clarity briefly meet in an endless dance. It is a song about hoping for a brighter day while sinking deeper into the dark sheets of self-loathing. One of the most experimental tracks Gaerea have ever created, it gave rise to extensive vocal and orchestral experimentation and serves as a reflection of what Gaerea has become throughout ten years of relentless creativity, touring, and complete commitment to our true selves.”
