A brief statement issued today, September 15th, has revealed that Abbath have scrapped all of their 2026 touring plans. That announcement arrives in the wake of a troubled live performance that took place on August 14th at the ‘SaariHelvetti Festival‘ at Viikinsaari in Tampere, Finland.
The black metal band’s vocalist/guitarist namesake Abbath Doom Occulta took to the stage without his usual stage attire during that set, and proceeded to throw down his guitar and walk offstage amid the opening song “To War!“. That performance was subsequently canceled, with the band having yet to play a show since.
Today’s statement read as follows:
“Abbath have made the decision to cancel all remaining shows for 2026. We sincerely apologize to the fans, festivals, and everyone affected. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
Abbath Doom Occulta has had erratic live issues in the past, and has been open about his battles with substance abuse. It is unclear however what caused this latest onstage incident.
