It’s been awhile now since former Fear Factory, etc. bassist/vocalist Christian Olde Wolbers checked in with progress on what many have assumed to be his own version of Fear Factory, Angst Fabrik. That speculation hasn’t exactly seemed too far off the mark, given that the German to English translation of that new project’s name is ‘Fear Factory‘.
While former Fear Factory vocalist Burton C. Bell and various members of Fear Factory engaged in years of bitter legal infighting, Wolbers and Bell were able to at least put aside their differences long enough to spend some time together in January of 2025. However, several months afterward, Bell seemed to distance himself from this fledgling project.
While a few other members had been bandied about for Angst Fabrik, little official details were shared, despite studio sessions for Angst Fabrik‘s debut having been scheduled for last fall. In an interesting turn of events however, a post shared today, September 07th, by Angst Fabrik showcased another key former member of Fear Factory being involved in the project, drummer Raymond Herrera.
As noted in the below clip of him laying down parts in the studio, Herrera had largely stepped away from playing drums, apparently having not actively stepped behind the kit in some 16 years until these latest sessions. Angst Fabrik said in their caption of that footage:
“After 16 years away from the kit, the machine woke back up. Still runs.

As it currently stands, Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares legally assumed control of the Fear Factory trademarks and has rebuilt the band in recent years following the bitter departure of Bell back in 2020. An eleventh studio album from Fear Factory is in the wings, with its first single “Roboticist” having recently debuted.
Further details regarding Angst Fabrik‘s plans have yet to be disclosed. an August 2025 update did however reveal that 14 songs were written at the time.
