Type O Negative have scored their first gold single in the United States with “I Don’t Wanna Be Me“. The goth metal outfit released that track as the sole single from their sixth studio album, 2005’s “Life Is Killing Me“. The RIAA handed down this certification on June 15th.

Type O Negative have previously notched up gold records for their fourth studio album “October Rust” and their 1998 video release “After Dark“. Their third studio album “Bloody Kisses” stands as their most popular release to date however, having gone gold back in November of 1995, and later hitting platinum in December of 2000.

While the band have largely laid dormant since the 2010 passing of their vocalist/bassist Peter Steele, a forthcoming live album from the so called ‘Drab Four’ is in the pipeline.

*A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit. 150 streams of a song also equate to a track-equivalent unit.
