Gold-certified alternative rockers Queens Of The Stone Age had a surprise live reunion in store last night, April 24th. In a throwback to their rowdier younger days, vocalist/bassist Nick Oliveri rejoined the band onstage during a set that took place at the Joshua Tree Retreat center in Joshua Tree, CA. Oliveri came out during the third act of the set, guesting on a performance of “Auto Pilot” from Queens Of The Stone Age‘s 2000 sophomore album, “Rated R“.

Oliveri was fired from Queens Of The Stone Age in 2004 amid his increasingly erratic behavior, and while that initial split was bitter, he and frontman Josh Homme would eventually reconcile. Fan-filmed footage of last night’s performance can be seen below. That reunion marked the first time this song had been performed live since 2014 — the last time Oliveri was invited to hit the stage with the band.

This show launched a brief spring tour from Queens Of The Stone Age that will pick up again this Monday, April 27th, in Rancho Mirage, CA. Libby Grace is opening that run:

04/25 Rancho Mirage, CA – Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage
04/27 Portland, OR – Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall
04/29 Seattle, WA – Paramount Theatre
05/01 Lincoln, CA – Thunder Valley Casino Resort
