While multi-platinum rap-rockers 311 have long been associated with values of peace and love, public expressions of their disparate personal beliefs have caused some friction over the years. The band’sdDrummer Chad Sexton caught heat for sharing his own controversial views in 2022 after speaking publicly on his interests in various conspiracy theories regarding Ukraine and more, as well as his then participation on U.S. President Donald Trump‘s Truth Social platform.
Years removed from that controversy, the band’s acclaimed bassist P-Nut (aka Aaron Wills) took to his Instagram today, April 13th, to post the below video condemning President Trump. P-Nut homed in on more recent controversies from the divisive Commander-In-Chief, including this April 07th Truth Social post, in which Trump threatened the whole ‘civilization’ of Iran would ‘die’.
P-Nut also took issue with Trump‘s latest controversy, his apparent AI-generated image that allegedly depicted him as Jesus Christ. Trump has since deleted that post, and claimed that his intention was to have the image portraying him as a ‘doctor.’ Notably, Trump made the aforementioned post hours after a publishing a separate post in which he publicly criticized Pope Leo over differing views on war and more.
In the below video posted today, P-Nut urged his fans and followers to not support Trump. Here’s what he had to say [transcribed by theprp.com]:
“I just wanted to just, just like, get it out there, that within a week — yeah, I’m going to talk politics so you can get the f*ck out of here if you don’t want to hear me talk politics. But within a week, this president, that some of you support still, which is fucking incredible and weird. Within a week, this president has threatened to destroy a civilization, right? Wipe out a people. And within the same week, he has put up a post depicting himself as Christ, ‘healing’ someone. I’m an atheist. I don’t believe in that sh*t. But if you do, and you know your scripture, right? That’s something the Antichrist would do, right? That’s anti-Christ material.
So get your sh*t together, people. He is not looking out for your best interests. Trump is evil, always has been. He’s looking out for himself. The only time he’s done anything good is to ingratiate himself, okay? Get it through your heads.
Threaten to destroy a civilization? An ancient civilization. One of the pillars of humanity, Iran is so smart. We have no idea. Their literacy rate is miles and miles ahead of us, okay?
This is easy. This is an easy decision. Okay? You don’t have to be right or left. Just stop supporting Trump, please.”
