The legal dispute between former Mushroomhead vocalist Jeffrey “Nothing” Hatrix and the band’s keyboardist, etc. Steve “Skinny” Felton has ended in a settlement. Back in August of 2024, Hatrix filed suit against Felton, alleging the latter had been withholding royalty payments for the 148 songs Hatrix had writing credits on in the Mushroomhead catalog. Hatrix and Felton were among the co-founders of the masked alternative metal band.

The suit also alleged unjust financial enrichment on the part of Felton, claiming he had been pocketing money from the band under the guise of unidentified publicist he claimed to have employed, among other nefarious allegations.

Hatrix was seeking at least $3.5 million in that suit. That same year also saw Hatrix seek to register the band’s double X logo, after the group had apparently let the trademark lapse. In the year’s since, Hatrix teased a new Mushroomhead-inspired project and has went on to battle cancer.

Yesterday, February 09th, the two parties filed to dismiss the above-mentioned suit with prejudice, guaranteeing that the litigation can not be brought forward ever again. While the terms of the settlement were not made public, both parties agreed to cover their own attorney fees. Taking to social media yesterday, Hatrix stated of this resolution:

“As a lot of you know, there has been an ongoing lawsuit between myself and my former band. I’m happy to report that the situation is settled and over.

From here out, there will be nothing negative about Mushroomhead or Skinny on my page. He came to the table amicably and honorably and we found a solution that made both of us happy.

Skinny and I founded Mushroomhead and it’s great to see the fanbase and community it has built. I’m proud of that and I know he is. Mushroomhead is his and I wish him the best. My creative baby is now my solo work. Will I ever work with Shroom again? Time will tell. I’m not against it. But I have no ill feelings either way. I want everybody to win.

Thank you all for your years of support and for having my back when it was needed, but from here on out it’s nothing but positivity in that direction. I said I was done with drama and I meant it. Love you guys!”
