Russian deathcore band Slaughter To Prevail are facing calls for their show in Stockholm, Sweden today, January 30th, to be canceled. The Nordic Ukraine Forum made the demand, citing the band’s strong Russian ties. Per SVT, at issue are the various merchandise items offered by the band and their frontman Alex Terrible, which include the Russian coat of arms and more.

The publication also allege that Terrible has worn merchandise from a Russian brand of clothing whose owner has been actively awarded a medal for their active support of Russia’s ongoing war efforts in Ukraine. The publication also cited Terrible‘s Russia-based mask making business, his ties to Russian bare-knuckle fighting leagues and more.

While Terrible‘s frequent displays of his love of Russia onstage have been controversial, he’s previously condemned the war in Ukraine. Last March he spoke on the pride he maintains for his homeland, while describing himself as a “man of peace.”

Swedish politician/city councilor Christofer Fjellner voiced his concerns against the band being permitted to perform in Stockholm, alleging that the band are involved in spreading Russian propaganda. Criticism has also fallen on Live Nation who are promoting the show. Stockholm’s mayor Karin Wanngård told SVT of her own concerns:

“The city’s premises are not a place to spread anti-democratic messages. It is the organizer’s responsibility to ensure that democratic conditions are followed and the city has a dialogue with the organizer to ensure that this also happens during the event in question.”

Slaughter To Prevail began their European/UK tour with Dying Fetus and Suicide Silence earlier this month with the following dates remaining:

01/30 Stockholm, SWE – B-K
01/31 Copenhagen, DEN – K.B. Hallen
02/02 Frankfurt, GER – Jahrhunderthalle
