Previously Unreleased Scott Weiland Track "If I Could Fly" Arrives On The 10th Anniversary Of His Death

In light of the tenth anniversary of his passing, a previously unreleased track titled “If I Could Fly” from the late Scott Weiland was shared online today, December 03rd. The Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver, etc. frontman recorded this track back in 2000. It will receive a limited edition 7″ vinyl release on December 19th, with pre-orders now available. A live rendition of his late 90s solo track “Barbarella” will be included as the b-side. Weiland‘s social media said of the track:

“In recognition of Scott‘s legacy, ten years after his passing, we’re releasing something truly special for the fans. ‘If I Could Fly‘, a previously unreleased track written in 2000 after the birth of his son, is out today.

This song marks the first unveiling of original, unreleased material from Scott’s archive since his passing. It captures him at a deeply personal and inspired moment, showcasing the emotional depth that defined so much of his work.”

This song is not the only celebration of Weiland to take place on the anniversary of his untimely passing. His above-mentioned son, Noah Weiland, is set to perform a set honoring his father’s catalog onstage at the Garden AMP in Orange County, CA tonight, December 03rd.

Scott Weiland was found dead on his tour bus on December 03rd, 2015 at the age of 48. His death was ruled as an accidental overdose of of cocaine, MDA and alcohol, with heart disease and asthma being contributing factors to his passing.
