Multi-camera footage of thall practitioners Vildhjarta performing a medley of “Rational Gaze” and “Sum” by extreme metal visionaries Meshuggah has newly gone up online. That performance took place this week for a seated awards show audience as part of this year’s Gannevik Scholarship awards ceremony, with members of Meshuggah themselves in attendance.
That event saw Meshuggah honored with one of the namesake scholarships, receiving a $500,000 SEK (roughly $53,000 USD as of press time) endowment for their contributions to Sweden’s culture and arts. While Vildhjarta‘s medley alone is worth the price of admission, the people-watching experience is equally as entertaining. Some of the shots panning across the solemn audience showcase attendees covering their ears, while others express visible discomfort, if not looking like a deer in headlights.
