Acclaimed Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, etc. vocalist Mike Patton has added yet another adventurous musical endeavor to his prolific resume. His latest foray is a pairing with gold-certified bluegrass/folk rockers The Avett Brothers. The brotherly duo of Scott and Seth from that latter outfit are involved in this new project, with the trio set to issue their self-titled debut album on November 14th through Thirty Tigers/Ramseur Records/Ipecac Recordings.
The collective have taken to calling themselves AVTT/PTTN and have properly introduced themselves with the below debut of a new song titled “Eternal Love“. Speaking of this unexpected union, Scott offered, “This is what art is. This is what making is supposed to be: in secret and with no ambition.” Scott further went on to state that Patton‘s past works were fundamental for him and his brother, stating that Patton is, “part of our DNA, like the fabric of our youth. Literally, we studied him. He’s a dear friend now, but when we were younger, I was imitating him.”
Patton himself went on to add:
“My peculiar challenge in this was to become a long distant cousin. A brother that was orphaned. Maybe they kept him in the chicken coop or some shit. They brought him out years and years later.”
