Slipknot‘s landmark 1999 self-titled album has newly received its 3rd multi-platinum certification in the United States. The masked Iowan metal band embarked upon an extensive tour celebrating that record’s 25th anniversary last year.

This past Friday, September 05th, they issued an extensive 25th anniversary edition of the release that clocks in at 59 tracks. This latest certification was handed down by the RIAA in tandem with that box set edition’s aforementioned release date. The self-titled album’s past 2x multi-platinum certification took place back on February 05th of 2005.

*A platinum album/single in the United States represents 1,000,000 units, while gold signifies 500,000 units. Outside of traditional physical/digital sales, the certifications factor in digital streams/downloads with 10 permanent track downloads counting as 1 unit and 1500 on-demand audio/video streams from a particular album also counting as as a unit. 150 streams of a song also equate to a track-equivalent unit.
