Swedish melodic death metal supergroup The Halo Effect have released their latest cover, this time taking on “Om du var här” (“If You Were Here“), a 1997 hit from Swedish alternative pop rock outfit Kent“. Bassist Peter Iwers said of that inspired choice:

Kent was a band that left a mark on many, weaving together pop rock and synth in a way that deeply moved me. This song remains one of my personal favorites. Out of respect for their artistry, we aimed to create our own version without straying too far from the soul of the original.”

Comprised entirely of former members of In Flames, The Halo Effect have been working towards the upcoming release of a new covers EP, with their recent take on Danzig also set to appear.
