Nine Inch Nails had even more setlist surprises in store for the second stop of their just launched ‘Peel It Back World Tour‘. The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame-inducted industrial metal icons took to the stage last night, June 17th, at Co-op Live in Manchester, UK. Once again splitting their time between an elaborate two-stage production, with one stage showcasing various lighting and projection on transparent fabric, and the other showcasing a more intimate in-the-round approach, the group kicked off the set with the first live performance of “A Minute To Breathe“.
That song was first released back in 2016 as part of a collaborative album led by Nine Inch Nails‘ masterminds Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross titled ‘Before The Flood‘. Other setlist highlights included a newly reworked version of the 1989 “Pretty Hate Machine” cut, “That’s What I Get“, marking the first time the song had been played since 1991.
The title track to Nine Inch Nails‘ sprawling 2x platinum third studio album “The Fragile” also made its way back into the setlist, albeit with a similar new reworking. Last night’s run through that track marked the first live performance of the song since 2009.
Outside of that, “Branches/Bones” from 2016’s “Not The Actual Events” was aired for the first time since 2018, returning via a remixed incarnation that materialized with the aid of tour opener Boys Noize.
