This year’s Spineshank won’t just be draped in the nostalgia of the live 25th anniversary celebrations they have planned for their sophomore album “The Height Of Callousness“. In a new interview with Talk Toomey, the industrialized nü-metal band’s vocalist Jonny Santos revealed that new material is also in the works. He said of that [transcribed by theprp.com]:
“I’m in the studio finishing up some edits and mixing the first Spineshank song since 2012. So we have one new song coming out, because I think the way we feel… we’ll know is, let’s see how this new Spineshank [is received.]
If it’s accepted well, and people are excited about it, and it does well, maybe there could be another album in the works, or if anything maybe even an EP—who knows? It’s kind of weird how it’s uncharted territory. You wonder, is this still going? Is this here to stay? Is it going to become a staple in heavy music, or is this just a fashion fad for kids today?”
Later in the discussion, he went on to add of the new song:
“Well, here’s the thing—I can tell you that we’ll have rough mixes to listen to among ourselves this week. So, we’re hoping to have the song completely mixed, mastered, and ready to go in the next two weeks. I can’t say [when it will come out] but if I was a betting man, the fact that we’re going out in July, I think I could see the song coming out sometime late May / early June. I mean, don’t quote me on that… there’s this thing called the Spineshank curse.”
Spineshank announced their return from hiatus this past January, albeit with an altered lineup. Vocalist Jonny Santos, drummer Tommy Decker and bassist/vocalist Robert Garcia are all back onboard, with Tommy Decker Jr. and ex-Chimaira, etc. guitarist Jason Hager joining up for the guitar duties. Their live plans at the moment can be found below.
