Cave In/Mutoid Man vocalist/guitarist Stephen Brodsky‘s latest acoustic trip down hardcore, etc. memory lane finds him stripping down a track originally penned by some close friends of his in Converge.
Brodsky and Converge have a lengthy shared history together that has spanned various tours, collaborations and shared members. At one point, it even looked as though the two groups were set to pair up for a ‘Verge In’ project that was ultimately scrapped. Brodsky took to covering Converge‘s 1996 offering “Farewell Note To This City” and had the following to say about it:
“‘Farewell Note To The City‘ by Converge. One of my favorites to play with them back in the day. They’re currently making a new album, so it feels like the right time for a Converge cover, which I wanted to do since the beginning of this little series.
Initially I was messing around with ‘Divinity‘ and thankfully no one will hear what that sounded like – but ‘Halo In A Haystack‘ is essentially what convinced me back in 1995 that the world of hardcore is a place worth venturing both creatively and spiritually. Grateful for their friendship forever (comes crashing)”
