Mat Bruso Hoping To Play One Last Bury Your Dead Show After His Surprise Exit: "It Wasn’t Right Of Me To Close Their Book..."

Last fall at the annual ‘Furnace Fest‘ in Birmingham, AL, Bury Your Dead vocalist Mat Bruso shockingly announced his exit from the band during their live set. As it turned out, Bruso didn’t just surprise the audience in attendance at the festival with his decision, but also his bandmates.

With the added clarity of hindsight, it would appear he now aims to give the metalcore group a proper sendoff, this time with all members aware of the finality of the show. In a post shared on the band’s official Instagram tonight, April 13th, Bruso stated:

“As many of you probably heard, I announced back at @furnacefest in 2024 that would be my final show with @buryyourdeadofficial or otherwise. I shared my motivations at the time and meant every word I said. However, what I failed to share at the time was that this was the first my band would be hearing of it. When I turned around and saw Mark waving goodbye to the crowd I realized my leaving meant this very well may be Mark’s final show as well. I regretted it. Bury Your Dead is not my band. It is Mark‘s band… and Slim‘s band. It wasn’t right of me to close their book for them whether I did it intentionally or not. I would like the opportunity to rectify that. #OneLastTime”
