Boston metalcore outfit Bury Your Dead played their final live show last night, September 20th. The veteran outfit chose to properly close out their 24-year career at the annual ‘New England Metal & Hardcore Festival‘ in Worcester, MA. Fan-filmed footage of that set has been shared online.

This swan song set came about after vocalist Mat Bruso shocked his bandmates and the group’s fans during last year’s ‘Furnace Fest‘, announcing it would be his last Bury Your Dead show. After deciding this past spring that his bandmates needed a proper sendoff, this final show was booked. Bury Your Dead didn’t come alone to last night’s set, as several guests, including the band’s ex-vocalist Myke Terry, were present and took part in the show.

Towards the end of the set, Bruso addressed the audience, explaining that this performance would be his last for good this time, while also shouting out his bandmates, including drummer Mark Castillo and guitarist Brendan “Slim” MacDonald. Bruso told the audience of that pair, “this is their band and I had the privilege of borrowing it for the like 20 fucking years.”

Bruso would later go on to tell the crowd, “if this band has ever meant anything to you before, just know you mean so much more to me than you could possibly ever realize, for changing my fucking life.”
