Prog rockers The Mars Volta took an unexpected approach when faced with an early leak of their ninth studio album, “Lucro sucio; Los ojos del vacio“, months before it was even officially announced.
Rather than adhering to the traditional playbook of going into emergency mode and rushing out the album digitally, the band instead went largely radio silent on the effort, and instead began introducing listeners to it through full album live performances.
Interestingly, despite nightly playthroughs of this record on their just concluded run with Deftones and Fleshwater, it still took weeks for the band to indirectly acknowledge the album’s existence. However, that sprawling 18-song opus has now officially made its way to streaming services via Clouds Hill and should be available now on leading digital service providers.
