History repeated itself tonight, March 26th, during Deftones‘ headlining set at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN. In a throwback to 2010, the influential alternative metal stars were once again joined onstage by Hayley Williams, vocalist for multi-platinum pop-punk outfit Paramore. Tonight’s pairing saw Williams lend guest vocals to the Sacramento natives’ 2003 self-titled cut “Minerva“.
As mentioned above, it’s not the first time Williams has shared the stage with the band, having previously joined them live back in 2010 during their set at the ‘Rock-A-Field Festival‘ in Roeser, Luxembourg. During that performance, she took over the parts originally laid down by Tool, etc. vocalist Maynard James Keenan on the “White Pony” standout “Passenger“.
Refreshingly, it would appear that Williams was primarily there to take in tonight’s show as a fan, having posted a brief clip of Deftones‘ set on her Instagram story that found her seemingly seated towards the back of the venue, as opposed to being tucked away sidestage.
With their eagerly anticipated tenth studio album expected out this year, Deftones will remain out on the road into early April at the moment, with further touring to follow throughout the year.
