Multi-platinum alternative metal stars Deftones will kickoff their U.S. headlining tour tomorrow, February 25th, and by the sounds of it, their highly anticipated tenth studio album won’t be too far behind. Recording sessions for that next opus from the Sacramento, CA natives took place across multiple sessions with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Alice In Chains, Foo Fighters) in the first half of 2024.

In an interview with Billboard Español conducted his past December, the band’s vocalist/guitarist Chino Moreno confirmed that record will be out in 2025, stating:

“So the plan is, obviously, to have a record sometime around that time [during the tour.] It’s getting very close to being ready, so yeah, we’re excited.”

In the same interview, both Moreno and his Crosses bandmate Shaun Lopez also indicated that their aforementioned project together will likely shift to the backburner as Deftones ramp up, but won’t be indefinitely shelved again as it had in the past. Lopez stated of that:

“I don’t know how soon it’ll be, but we definitely want to work on more music. We enjoy making it and yeah, I just would like to thank everybody for showing interest in our project.”

Further into the conversation, Moreno also expressed his hopes of one day bringing the annual ‘Día de los Deftones‘ festival to Mexico, stating:

“We talked about it a lot recently, so it’s definitely in discussions to do so. We would love to do! I mean, I can’t promise, but, you know, it’s been growing really great.”
